What is Aquila Fitness? The name Aquila comes from Greek mythology. Aquila is the protective and loyal war eagle to Zeus. Like the war eagle Aquila, what makes Aquila Fitness different from other CrossFit gyms is our devotion and protective practices towards our members. We are focused on perfect movements and fine-tuning form. Promoting safe workout mechanics helps you achieve the best results. Our loyalty to our members runs as deep as Aquila’s loyalty to Zeus.
Aquila Fitness was started in 2008 as CrossFit East Sacramento and was the first full-scale CrossFit fitness gym in the Sacramento area. We service members from Roseville, Folsom, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, and Citrus Heights. When searching for a gym near me, you’ll see that we specialize in fitness classes, personal trainers, and workout routines. Gym members build muscle tone and lose fat at the most effective levels while being kept safe. Longevity is of utmost importance to us as the demographic of East Sacramento is the lifeblood of our gym.
We pride ourselves on our lifetime of experience in the strength training and fitness coaching industry. As personal trainers for many years, Travis Cassidy and Justin Riley honed their skills from one-on-one personal trainers to small groups and eventually into full-scale group fitness. We have some of the most amazing results from regular people that a fitness facility could ever dream to have. We are experienced in effective fitness and nutrition coaching through and around various back injuries and blood pressure ailments that most people experience. While we are not physical therapists, the rehabilitation process that goes on here still amazes us to this day.
Come in and schedule a fitness intro with us and you will see our level of experience and professionalism. We practice squats, deadlifts, presses, pull-ups, core work, kettlebells, and sleds. Metabolic conditioning or metcon is the practice of mixing all of the different fitness modalities into short high-intensity workouts. Cardio is the enemy to your fitness results as cardio leads to muscle wasting. Muscle is the most metabolically active tissue in the body. The more dense you can make your muscle, the higher you can drive your resting metabolism. Stay away from exercise with the intention of burning calories and spend your time on an exercise that builds your resting metabolic rate. Cardio-based exercise can burn lots of calories, but the decrease in resting metabolic rate will overall create a slower metabolism and will lead to a terrible condition we refer to as skinny fat. The overall caloric burn experienced by those who train for muscle density is much higher per day than the cardio crowd. Lastly, on that note, the cardio exerciser will experience increased hunger beyond that of the strength and conditioning exerciser.
To sum it all up,
World Class Fitness in 100 Words
Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.
