The Wilmette Park District has a 10,000+ square foot, state-of-the-art gymnasium–one of the finest gymnastics facilities in Illinois. In addition to the standard Olympic events for men and women, our gymnastics program features an enlarged pit area and two in-ground trampolines that allow beginning through advanced students to train in the safest possible manner.
Our gym also features a padded and carpeted area for preschool children ages 2 to 6 years old, full of equipment that is just their size! The gym has a glass-enclosed viewing area so parents and friends can easily see the children during class.
All children are encouraged to try each activity and will progress at their own individual pace.

Gymnastics Classes: Overview
Adult/Tots Gymnastics
An adult/child introduction to gymnastics. Each class begins with a group warm-up activity, followed by coach-guided activities on floor exercise, trampoline, bars, rings and balance beam. The focus of the class is on developing the child’s physical skills, flexibility, body awareness and strength. Tots must have reached 18 months of age before enrollment.
Age 3-4
The Wilmette Park District’s gymnastics staff emphasize confidence and progress. Gymnasts are encouraged to develop new physical skills while gaining strength, flexibility and coordination. Students should wear tight-fitting clothing or leotards. Children must be age 3 at the start of the program.
Age 5-6, including Kindergarten
Children progress developmentally through skill-based lesson plans and become more comfortable performing gymnastics skills independently. These classes include Kindergartners. Children must be age 5 at the start of the program.
Ninja Minis, Age 4-6
The gymnastics gym is the perfect place to bring your MINI NINJA to acquire those basic skills. Learn to flip, roll, jump and climb like a true ninja! We will utilize our specialized ninja equipment, trampolines and soft mats for our minis.
Recreational Gymnastics
The Gymnastics staff teaches fundamental gymnastics for all Olympic events. Students progress at their own pace and are grouped according to grade and ability. Focus will be on perfecting basic skills and acquiring new skills.
- Girls: Grade 1-2, Grade 3-4 & Grade 5+
- Boys: Grade 1+
Tumbling Class: Ages 9-17
The primary focus of this class will be to learn tumbling skills, from handstands and cartwheels to back handsprings and back tucks.
Advanced Girls’ Gymnastics
*Permission required from gymnastics staff before registration
These skill-based classes are for focused, more advanced gymnasts who want to compete on a gymnastics team. Gymnastics staff will monitor the progress of all students and recommend advancement to these classes when necessary.

Adult Gymnastics
Why let the kids have all the fun? Now it’s your turn! We lead our Adult participants through various flexibility and strengthening exercises, while learning basic skills on all men’s and women’s Olympic gymnastics events…and trampoline. Ages 18 & up.
*A Message to Parents About Age Requirements and Siblings:
For all programs, age requirements will be as of the date of the first class, unless otherwise specified. Please do not request to have your child put in a class he/she does not belong in. All age requirements are set to benefit the children and make instruction more consistent. In some instances, the requirements have been set for your child’s safety. Also, due to insurance regulations, siblings may not be on the floor during class.
